We have just celebrated our 48th birthday and as you know, with age comes wisdom so we thought we would pick our top tips for Africa travel this year.

We have been lucky enough to experience a whole range of diverse African countries, with all levels of accommodation and experiences that will stay in our memories forever! This has not only fuelled our passion for Africa, but allowed us to really hone our Africa knowledge.

Each of the reservations staff have chosen their faves, based on their own personal experiences.

So, with no further ado... here are our BENCH TOP TRIPS!

Cape to Kruger Overland Safari
26 days from $6,115 per person

I've just returned from an overland trip through South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe - what an experience!

The people were so welcoming and accommodating, the vehicle was spacious and comfy and the food was fresh and tasted incredible. It's a great option for those that want to see a good cross section of Africa, at a great price but without compromising on value! I highly recommend it!

Serengeti Wilderness Safari
6 days from $3,785 per person

I love getting off the beaten track and experiencing a truly authentic safari. At Serengeti Wilderness Camp there are only 12 tents in camp.

It's comfy, eco-friendly and there's the added thrill of knowing that the animals are free to roam right through camp. That to me is what a safari is all about!

Highlights of East Africa
12 days from $6,560 per person

I love this small group tour! It touches on all the 'must sees' in East Africa, with a cross section of national parks and game reserves.

If there are only 2 passengers booked on then it will still depart, and you have a more exclusive tour this way. If you have a bit more cash to splash then I would highly recommend staying an additional night at Satao Elerai and flying to the Masai Mara.

Namibia Self Drive Safari
11 days from $3,870 per person

I experienced a self-drive in Namibia a couple of years ago and would highly recommend it. I felt completely safe and loved the freedom it gave me to see and do what I wanted to.

Not only is this is a safe option but it's also a brilliant way to keep down costs AND you can travel at your own pace, stopping to take in the wonders whenever the mood takes you!

Kenya Walking Safari
4 days from $3,065 per person

My favourite experience on the African continent; without question, has to be the Kenya Walking Safari. Led by the one of the owners and an experienced and passionate team of Samburu men in traditional attire, this walking safari took me to a lesser trodden corner of Kenya where I slept under canvas.

This experience was magical, meaningful and one that I truly hope I’m able enjoy again.

1000 Views of Madagascar
12 days from $2,515 per person

What a fascinating country!

I've travelled fairly extensively but Madagascar is like nowhere I've ever been. The lemurs, baobabs, beautiful tribes, tropical beaches, and ever-changing scenery make the island absolutely unique.

Explore the highlights on this great small group tour, and choose between classic or superior accommodation, depending on your budget.

The Great North Road
11 days from $5,595 per person

Experience the wilds of Botswana on this mobile camping safari. The staff are what made this trip stand out above the rest; they were just so personable, professional and knowledgeable. Our guide was wonderful and thanks to him we had numerous wildlife sightings.

The camp was made up of comfortable Meru style tents with an ensuite bush shower and loo - all ready for us when we arrived. Camping in the middle of the bush, surrounded by wildlife and nature was truly amazing!
