Eagle Island Camp at Xaxaba, meaning “Island of Tall Trees” is a beautiful and unspoilt refuge. Situated on the banks of the Boro channel and Xaxaba lagoon, Eagle Island Camp lies in the heart of an ecological wonderland. Here visitors can see and experience a variety of the Okavango Delta’s flora and fauna. This is truly one of the Delta’s most pristine locations. Accommodation is in 11 luxury tents and one suite set on raised wooden platforms, offering great views and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof. The large decks, which are perfect for bird watching or enjoying a romantic dinner, are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock. The tent interiors are luxurious and offer such comforts as a four poster bed complete with mosquito netting, air conditioning, overhead fan, heater, in-room safe, mini-bar, hair dryer and an intercom system to reception. Bathrooms and dressing area are en suite and consist of “his & hers” vanity unit, shower, separate w.c. and full length mirrors. The guest areas are shaded by a canopy of indigenous trees. They consist of a dining area, separate bar and lounge, small reference and video library and curio shop. Pathways are illuminated and there is a large heated swimming pool. Depending on the weather meals are taken under the branches of an ancient Jackelberry tree. The Fish Eagle bar is the perfect place to relax with a sundowner – sunsets are quite magnificent especially during the times of high flood.
