Virunga Lodge is perched high on a ridge and has stunning views of the Virunga Volcanoes in Rwanda and the twin lakes Bulera and Ruhonda. Day 1 - Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at Kigali Airport you will be met and driven the short distance to Gisozi Genocide Memorial. Visit the moving and emotional memorial of the one million people killed in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
Afterwards you will be transferred by road to your lodge, perched high on a ridge with stunning views of the Virunga Volcanoes and the twin lakes Bulera and Ruhonda. This is a road journey of approximately three hours over rolling hills on a comfortable paved road. Relax and take in the beautiful mountain views. (D)
In a spectacular location overlooking the Virunga volcanoes and shimmering lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. The magnificent Virunga Lodge, set on a stunning hillside, has eight bandas with a panoramic view of the Virunga volcanoes and the lakes Ruhondo and Bulera. The terraced gardens on this high ridge are now well established, with a magical sunken paradise garden as their focal point. Aside from gorilla tracking, clients can climb a volcano, track the golden monkey, visit Dian Fossey’s grave or go for gentle strolls around the picturesque villages near the lakes. Three hours’ drive from Kigali or a long day’s drive from Kampala.
Day 2 - Kigali
The Gorilla Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda offers one of the best locations for gorilla trekking with 10 habituated gorilla groups that you can trek to see. Starting in the cultivated land at the base of the volcanoes, the trek normally lasts a few hours. Depart after an early breakfast to Park Headquarters for the gorilla trekking formalities and briefing. The group (maximum 8 people), travel to the forest edge and commence trekking through the thick forest to see these magnificent creatures. The walking is quite steep but not overly strenuous. After spending an hour with the gorillas return to your lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will be met and transferred to your Kigali hotel. (BL)

The Hotel is situated only 10 km from Kigali International Airport. The accommodation comprises of 104 air conditioned rooms from the Presidential suite, luxury suites to deluxe rooms. The elegant Diplomat Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while The Lounge Bar offers a choice of three purpose designed areas: the bar, the lounge and the terrace.
Day 3 - End of Rwanda Tour
This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Kigali Airport for your onward flight. (B)

Trekking may be fairly strenuous with treks up to six hours or longer, at high altitudes, not uncommon. Also, mountain gorillas are wild animals, and, as such sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 95%. Minimum age 15 years.
