Lake Nakuru National Park is famous for its flamingos and pelicans. For the perfect climax to the safari the Ol Pejeta Conservancy will astound you with its quantity and diversity of wildlife. Experience in a week the fascinating world of Africa’s animals on this scheduled small group departure with a maximum of seven passengers.
This carbon neutral safari contributes to conservation in Kenya. We have partnered with Wildlife Works, the world’s leading REDD+ company to compensate for the unavoidable operational carbon emissions that are generated on a road safari in Kenya. Each year, our carbon credits are used to plant over 132,000 trees in Kenya. We strive to have minimal impact on the environment and incorporate carbon-offsetting contributions into the price of your safari.
Day 1 - Nairobi
On arrival at Nairobi Airport you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel (approximately 17 KM / 30 minutes – 1 hours).
Most city hotels insist on blending into the concrete jungle. Thankfully, Sarova Panafric refuses to succumb to this urban order. Named in honour of the Pan African movement, Sarova Panafric was inaugurated by the first president of Kenya, H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, on 5th January 1965 and truly represents the African renaissance.
Idyllically located 5 minutes’ drive from the CBD and 18 km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, amidst beautifully landscaped gardens in a quiet suburb of Nairobi, Sarova Panafric offers 162 rooms in a range of Superior, Executive, Club, Studio and Themed Suites – all recently refurbished and decorated in a contemporary vibrant African style.
Day 2 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast leave Nairobi and drive past the extinct volcano of Mt Longonot and Suswa into the homelands of the Masai. The Masai Mara located on Kenya’s southern border with Tanzania, constitutes the northern stretch of the Serengeti and has the richest concentration of animals in Kenya. This afternoon after lunch, experience your first game drive in the unique world of the Masai Mara (approximately 270 KM / 6 hours). (BLD)
Sarova Mara Game Camp is located in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in South West Kenya. It is 260 km from Nairobi which is an hour flight from Nairobi, 20-minute drive from the airstrip and a 5.5 hours drive from Nairobi on the new tarmac road. It is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams.
The Camp is uniquely laid out over the sprawling grounds that include rolling manicured greens, a virtual mini forest of indigenous shrubs and exotic trees, a large pond stocked with fish, mini bird sanctuary and an authentic Masai village adjoining the camp. The camp includes 20 club tents, 51 standard tents, 2 family tents, a main restaurant, bar and many bush dining options. The free swimming pool has its own pool bar.
Day 3 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Spend the day on game drives through the tremendous fauna of the Masai Mara in search of the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhino elephant, buffalo). (BLD)
Day 4 - Lake Nakuru National Park
Your journey takes you to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its birdlife. The park boasts a good number of rhinos as well as leopard and lion. After lunch at Lion Hill Lodge enjoy an afternoon game drive (approximately 350 KM / 8 hours). (BLD)
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is nestled along the Lion Hill overlooking the spectacular Lake Nakuru. Its location affords panoramic views of the lake and the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park. A short two-hour drive from Nairobi, Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is a favourite with residents and visitors to Kenya.
Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is cleverly laid out in such a way that most rooms and sitting areas afford stunning views of the lake and the park. The Lodge incorporates natural landscaping with tall acacia trees, winding walkways and greens dotted with bird feeds.
Day 5 - Samburu Game Reserve
Today you will drive past Mount Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve, situated in the dry area of northern Kenya, where the nomadic tribes live. This Reserve is situated in the dry area of Northern Kenya, where the nomad tribes, the Samburus, the Rendilles and the Boran live. After lunch you will encounter the amazing landscape of the Samburu Game Reserve on your drive (approximately 380 KM / 8 hours). (BLD)
Shaba National Reserve is a protected area in Isiolo County to the east of the Samburu. The park offers breath-taking scenery and a rich diversity of wildlife. Its fame as the land of “Born Free” stems from the heritage of Joy and George Adamson, who nurtured Elsa the lioness on the grounds of Shaba in the 50’s before setting the lioness free on the plains beyond.
Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is located in a natural oasis in Shaba National Reserve and offers complete serenity amidst wild and beautiful surroundings. It is a unique safari experience that will fill your every sense with the sights and sounds of nature all around you.
The lodge offers guests an authentic safari experience, providing comfortable accommodation in a tranquil setting near the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river. This unique safari lodge stands out for its pioneering spirit and innovative design. The 85 woody rooms all have terraces and all rooms and the restaurant and bar overlook the river.

Our Bench Africa safari in Kenya was everything we hoped for and more. Highly recommend Bench Africa if you’re thinking about an African adventure- nothing was any trouble at all. Even if you’re not thinking about an African adventure (and I wasn’t!) you really should. Truly amazing life changing memories.
Once in a lifetime honeymoon
We booked Bench Africa for our honeymoon and from the initial enquiry the process was seamless, Bench really are the African experts and our honeymoon was an absolutely amazing experience.
Our driver consistently got us into the midst of the action and we really got to experience Africa and everything a safari has to offer
The accommodation was consistently amazing and the facilities and food were 5 star
Kenya Highlights with Bench Africa = AMAZING
Bench Africa delivered an amazing travel experience. From start to finish there was nothing to be faulted.
Kevin, our guide was extremely knowledgeable, safe and accommodating and made the whole experience fun, entertaining and educational.
The properties we stayed in were wonderful - the staff were extremely friendly and no request was ever too difficult.
Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge was one of the most beautifully scenic places I've stayed at - the rooms had the most incredible view of the Lake and Valley and it was the most incredible view to wake up too.
Sweetwaters Tented Camp also provided a flawless and accommodating environment. The tented rooms were amazing from the spaciousness to the comfort, to the slippers! The camp itself also had a large range of extra activities - the spa treatments are definitely recommended.
The National Parks we visited provided us with sightings of a large range of wildlife - the knowledge our guide Kevin had was next level - what an amazing and enjoyable trip - something I will remember forever and happily recommend to anyone wanting to visit Kenya. Thanks Bench Africa!
Awesome tour. Will absolutely be recommending the tour to my clients.Steven Knapman Destination: Kenya
We very recently returned from our amazing family holiday to Kenya, Zanzibar and Egypt. Each country was uniquely different and beautiful. It truly was an adventure that we all loved. Our tour guides were all wonderful and full of local knowledge, the hotels were all beautiful, I only wish that we had more time to spend there! Everything went smoothly, we felt completely safe and most of all the kids were never bored!. This was definitely a holiday that we will remember forever.Jeanette Nickolaus Destination: Egypt
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience …
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with the Bench Tour we took in Kenya, but do have some comments about its organization. Our Tour Operator at Escape Travel came to our rescue when our Emirates flight to Dubai was cancelled at Sydney Airport. After reorganising a trip to Dubai, then Nairobi via Singapore, she contacted Bench Tours who, knowing we had been delayed and would not arrive at Nairobi in time to meet the safari departure time, rearranged our accommodation at the Intercontinental Nairobi and arranged a flight out next morning to meet the Safari driver in the Masai Mara. Our driver, Kevin, was terrific. We saw many animals each day and Kevin did all he could to make sure we enjoyed the experience.
We stayed at three Sopa Lodges and the final night at Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Every meal at each Lodge was well presented with great variety. The staff at all Lodges was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. We could not fault the service or accommodation.
The only problem we had with the tour was the final day. After breakfast, we returned to Nairobi, a four hour drive, but our flight did not leave until 22:45 (10:45p.m.) and we had nowhere to go! Kevin, our driver, contacted Bench Tours and they gave him permission to take us to an hotel for lunch, but we still arrived at the International Airport about 15:30 (3:30p.m.). The International Airport would not let us enter for some time and, when we were finally allowed in, we sat for many hours waiting to be 'processed'.
Perhaps Bench could include an extra tour on the last day - or even include lunch at the last Lodge.
Beyond all expectations!
We are independent travellers who wanted to do our own thing. The expert and helpful advice of Hiliary Redhead at Bench International helped us put together a fantastic itinerary. It hit all the things on the wish list we gave her and then some. All the places we stayed were exceptional, you could have been forgiven thinking they were 5 star without the price tag. Nothing was ever too much trouble, often anticipating our needs no matter how big or small including satisfying fussy eaters! The organisation was very professional and all the transfers were seamless and stress free.
We saw the 'Big 5' many times over, and many other animals and birds often up close and personal. The scenery was spectacular. But the real highlight was the people we met along the way.
If we get the opportunity to go to Africa again, Bench International will be the first phone call. And that's what we tell anyone thinking of visiting this amazing continent.Fiona Smart
