Featuring ‘The Train on the Bridge’

The Golden age - An idyllic past time of peace, prosperity, and happiness.

A journey of discovery, harking back to a magical, bygone era, this special 9-day handcrafted itinerary whisks you back to the golden age of safari, staying in some of the most admired and scenic spots in South Africa. With untouched pristine wilderness, mind-blowing scenery, world-class wineries, and exotic wildlife this itinerary has it all! Staying in carefully hand-picked 5-star properties throughout, you are sure to experience the highest level of comfort and service throughout your entire safari in South Africa.

Your journey begins in ‘The Mother City’, the colourful and cosmopolitan metropolis of Cape Town. Here in this epicurean Eden, you can experience rich history, vibrant cultures, and roaring nightlife, as well as its flourishing food scene; all under the watchful gaze of Table Mountain.

Your next stop is the charming village of Franschhoek, ‘French Corner’ in Afrikaans. Nestled peacefully amidst the Franschhoek Mountains, deep in the heart of the Cape Winelands, Franschhoek has made a name for itself on the world stage as the gourmet capital of South Africa. Sit back, relax, and indulge in the great wines, world-class restaurants, and historical sites on offer here.
Kruger Shalati is one of the most anticipated and exciting new properties in South Africa, and it is here where your journey concludes with a unique and luxurious four-day safari in the Greater Kruger.

Kruger Shalati, named after an African warrior queen, pays homage to the national park's origins as a travel destination, back when visits to the park were first permitted in the early 1920s. This newly refurbished train is permanently stationed on the historic Selati Bridge over the Sabie River, where 100 years ago trains would park overnight. The glass-walled, large train rooms allow for infinite views along the length of the majestic Sabie River while the style of the train is a celebration of African design in collaboration with local art and crafting skills. From here you can head out on safari, or why not simply spend an afternoon in the swimming pool watching the crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, and elephants below – a vista unlike any other!
