Designed to echo the shipwrecks that are scattered along the tumultuous Namibian coastline, Shipwreck Lodge will be a singular experience. This exclusive destination opens its doors in June 2018. Located in the famous Skeleton Coast Central Concession between the Huarusib and Hoanib River in the Skeleton Coast Park, only 45km North of Möwe Bay, the lodge is situated on the southern bank of the Huarusib River Mouth, nestled between the dunes with a view to the moody Atlantic Ocean.
From the sheltered deck, watch the waves crashing onto the lonely beach and experience a surreal sense of being suspended in time as the mist curls in from the ocean, wreathing the dunes in white.

Möwe Bay seal Colony excursions
Excursions to Möwe Bay seal Colony There are day excursions by vehicle to the Möwe Bay seal colony. Guests will be shown the remnants of the Suiderkus Shipwreck, along the beach past the remains of the Karimona Shipwreck, abandoned Westies diamond mine, remains of the Ventura Bomber, to the beautiful natural wind shelter created by the reeds at the Flamingo pools.
Embark on a sundowner drive to the Roaring Dunes where the desert’s voice can be heard. Or explore the shore of the Atlantic Ocean while overlooking thesun disappearing into the waves.
Huarusib River excursion
Huarusib River excursion A 4x4 trip to the Clay castles, a natural geological formation, where brown hyenas are often encountered. Fortunate clients could possibly see the desert adapted elephants and lions.
A wonderful lunch whets the appetite of the nature lover who has the senses rushed by the crisp air of the sea breeze, the ebb and flow of the ocean.
Day 1 - Skeleton Coast
On arrival at Windhoek Airport you will be met by a local representative and assisted to your light aircraft flight to the Skeleton Coast and your accommodation.
Located in the famous Skeleton Coast concession between the Hoarusib and Hoanib rivers in the Skeleton Coast National Park, Shipwreck Lodge is only 45 km from Möwe Bay. The shipwreck-shaped cabins are nestled between the dunes with a view of the Atlantic Ocean where the cold Benguela current provides guests with a refreshing breeze.
Our exclusive clients can look forward to appreciating the harshness of the desert and the beauty of these solitary landscapes filled with geological history. Learn about the fauna and flora adapted to survive in these harsh conditions – all from the comfort of the restaurant deck. There are 8 twin/double cabins and 2 family cabins.
Day 2 - Skeleton Coast
Enjoy the activities offered by your accommodation including an introduction to the Skeleton Coast, Quad biking, sandboarding, a sundowner drive and a Hoarusib River excursion. (BLD)
Day 3 - End of your Skeleton Coast Stay
This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Windhoek Airport and your onward arrangements. (B)
