Day 1 - Selous Game Reserve
Fly by light aircraft from Dar es Salaam to the Selous Game Reserve. Transfer from the airstrip to your accommodation and after lunch enjoy an afternoon game activity. (LD)
Accommodation: 3 nights Rufiji River Camp.
Rufiji River Camp enjoys an enviable location high up on the banks of the Great Rufiji River. Spectacular sunsets are chorused by hippos grunting and a plethora of bird song. Built by local craftsmen, the camp combines Makuti palm roofs with Selous sourced paving stones and farmed hard woods to create a beautiful and comfortable accommodation from which to enjoy the Selous Game Reserve. The shaded swimming pool is a great way to cool off between safari activities. The tents are all pitched underneath thatched roofs with massive verandas giving views up and down the river. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom, with solar heated water for showering. With the focus on the river views and wildlife, the restaurant and bar are built to reflect this. Al fresco dining lit by star light, private dinners along the river bank or that end of the evening coffee sipped from the depth of a sofa in the upper level coffee lounge – it can be difficult to choose!
Day 2 to Day 3 - Selous Game Reserve
Spend two full days exploring the Selous Game Reserve with scheduled activities provided by your camp. A third of Tanzania’s elephant are found in Selous, and two thirds of the wild dog population. The Reserve is also home to large numbers of buffalo, lion as well as a great many antelope species. Spend the days exploring the Reserve with professional guides on game drives, walking safaris and relaxing boating safaris along the waterways of Rufiji River. (BLD)

Built out of local stone and thatch, Ruaha River Lodge is positioned around natural kopjes and capitalises on its exceptional position on a bend in the river.
Ruaha River lodge is the only ‘lodge’ in the Ruaha, consisting of 24 stone chalets stretching along the river bank. Each chalet has stunning views from a large veranda out the front, while the huge interiors feature a sitting area, writing desk and either twin or double beds. At the rear of each chalet is a large bathroom decorated with found timber, a shower and double basins.
